Anoushka Shankar Spends an Evening at Royce Hall

At the age of nine, young Anoushka Shankar began an intensive course of study in Indian classical music under the guidance of her father and guru, Ravi Shankar.

Not content to stop her creative journey at becoming one of the world's foremost sitar players by her early 20's, she has expanded her palette as a performer and composer, incorporating elements from genres as expansive as jazz, classical, flamenco and modern electronic music.

Her newest album, out this week, is 'Land of Gold', inspired by the humanitarian trauma of displaced global peoples.

We have a chance for you to win tickets to see her and her band give a special concert of selections from the new album at UCLA's Royce Hall on April 13.
