Sir Elton John has been forced to reschedule the remainder of the North American leg on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour today [April 23] due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The postponed shows were initially set to run between May 22 and July 8, and he had previously postponed a five-week leg of North America that was supposed to begin March 22.

A statement has now been issued on the star's social media pages saying: "This tough decision has been made with the continued safety and well-being of his fans at a time when health services are under increased pressure and with the concern that these gatherings continue to risk accelerating the spread of the coronavirus [COVID-19]".
