‘Sine’ is the first single taken from her highly anticipated album Home, an album which reflects her thoughts and feelings about moving between London and Salento, and making her home within herself, instead of anywhere physical. 'Sine' is out on the 10th September, with the rest of the album HOME following on the 5th November.

Davoli proves her talent with ‘Sine’, an introduction to her new themes of home as emotional and spiritual rather than physical. A jazz-influenced electronic track, ‘Sine’ calls to mind the more experimental work of Bjork, Julia Holter and Air, as well as more mainstream acts like Lianne La Havas and Celeste. Soulful, understated and yet extremely affecting, Davoli uses minimalist production to its greatest effect, simultaneously restrained and abundant.

Matilde Davoli debuted in the Italian alternative scene as singer and guitarist of avant-pop band Studiodavoli, releasing two full lengths: Megalopolis (Record Kicks, 2004) and Decibel for Dummies (Record Kicks, 2006). Her audiences were immediately captured by her beguiling and husky voice coupled with a stage performance in which she shone with her beloved guitar.

Following these critically acclaimed early efforts, and putting together a highly eclectic electronic folk pop trio Girl with the Gun, she then obtained a degree in sound engineering and started multiple collaborations - Laetitia Sadier from Stereolab, Indian Wells, Giorgio Tuma, Populous to name a few.

In 2011 Matilde moved to London, starting a new path and musical phase. After four years (2015) she released her first solo work “I’m Calling You From My Dreams”, a sonic compendium of her London experience. The record is near impossible to pin down, between echoing chimes of Stereolab inspired guitar, big washes of dream-pop haze and moody nods to the sixties Italian psychedelic soundtrack music, a huge part of her heritage. The album received a warm welcome in UK, Italy and especially US, where it rotated on college radios, climbing the CMJ chart and taking Matilde to the prestigious stage of Primavera Sound in Barcelona in 2016. Shortly after she moved back to Italy and started several years of live shows, working as a producer/sound engineer.

In the process, she kept asking herself what her home really is: the land from which her roots ascend, or the city that welcomed her and offered the stimuli she was looking for?

HOME, her new record, arises from the dichotomy between two totally opposite scenarios: London and Salento, both beloved and full of strength, memories, challenge and defeat. She realizes that "home" is not a physical space but rather a state of mind, the house that each one of us grows within herself, a house that should never collapse. As a reflection, the record features deep sonic compositions that are distinctly metropolitan, partly moving from the previous explicit-pop endeavours and running into more atmospheric and vast landscapes.

Davoli will release her upcoming concept album HOME on the 5th November.
