Glee's Cory Monteith found dead in hotel room

Cory Monteith, star of musical TV show Glee, has died aged 31.

Monteith was found dead at the at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. His body was discovered by hotel staff after he missed his check-out time.

He first checked in to the hotel on July 6. A report from Vancouver police has said there is video footage of Monteith returning to his room in the early hours of the morning before his body was found just after noon.

Coroner Lisa Lapointe has stated: "We do not have a great deal of information as to cause of death."

Famous for playing Finn Hudson in Fox’s hit television show since 2009, Cory had been treated for drug addiction in April earlier this year. The actor previously admitted to using drugs at 13 and entering rehab at the age of 19.

Despite little information about the cause of death being apparent the police have ruled out foul play.

A post-mortem examination will take place on Monday.

Vancouver’s Deputy Chief Doug LaPard confirmed the star’s passing at a press conference and explained that his family had been informed of his death.
