In just under five weeks since release, J. Anomaly's new single "Lily Dove" has achieved something that took "Fo' Sho" years to accomplish: the highly sought after Discover Weekly tap! This Monday, tons of Spotify users logged on to the platform with J. Anomaly's "Lily Dove" added to their Spotify generated Discover Weekly playlist!

For those that have been following along with the recent news we here at Elm to Ivy have been dropping, you're probably asking yourself this: Given our recent experience with having "Fo' Sho" selected for the algorithmic playlist, do we still think Discover Weekly is as huge of a catalyst as it's made out to be? The answer is... YES!

Here's why. An industry insider (whose very own advice was reliable enough to help us start landing J. Anomaly on Discover Weekly in the first place) states that the Discover Weekly algorithm is HIGHLY UNPREDICATBLE. The first few weeks after being selected, you might see little to no action compared to how you see the songs of others take off. Then, as far out as six months later... BOOM! One could randomly start seeing enough streams from Discover Weekly alone (Yes, we're talking in the thousands) to help a career take off! And this is not accounting for the additional growth bound to come from listeners that continue to interact with your song after discovering it on Discover Weekly.

Elm to Ivy Records is ecstatic that its promotional tools have once again been proven to be strong enough to land a song on one of Spotify's top algorithmic playlists. Our current plan for the near future is this: Keep taking shots at Discover Weekly with each new release, and then sit back and wait to see which song will see a major spike in streams from the career-changing playlist first! "Lily Dove" can achieve such a spike very soon (i.e. it could happen in the next few days). Or, this might come months down the line. Either way, the fact that the newly released song will likely reach 10k streams in about a week or two from now is exciting enough for an indie label that continues to earn stripes on its rise to the top!
