Jennifer Lopez insists she is performing at World Cup: "We always were going"

Jennifer Lopez has seemingly performed a U-turn on her proposed performance at this week's World Cup opening ceremony.

The singer is due to line-up next to Pitbull and Claudia Leitte in São Paulo on Thursday (June 12) to run through their official World Cup song 'We Are One'.

It was recently announced by FIFA that Lopez could not perform anymore due to "production issues".

However, Lopez has told the AP that she is indeed going to Brazil to perform:

"I'm coming. I leave tonight. We always were going. I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I'm like, 'Ah, Ok, I can leave this day, that day, I don't know if we can make it'.

"People get nervous and I think it was a little bit premature to announce anything. But we are definitely going."

The opening ceremony is due to take place before the event's first match, which will see hosts Brazil and Croatia face off.

The tournament will last for a number of weeks as Spain look to defend their 2010 title.
