Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have confirmed in a statement that they are ending their marriage. 

The couple, who have twins Emme and Max together, revealed yesterday (July 15) that the split was amicable and they have decided it's best if they file for divorce. They explained:

"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

This news will come as a shock to many as it was only back in May that the pair, who wed in 2004, performed together on stage during American Idol, but clearly they have managed to keep their crumbling relationship away from the public eye until now.
