Katy Perry is set to receive a coveted Hollywood Star next year.

The singer will be honoured on the neighbourhood's Walk of Fame in 2014 alongside the likes of fellow newly announced inductees Liam Neeson and Orlando Bloom.

Walk of Fame selection committee Chairman David Green commented on the new honourees:

"We have a great mix of celebrities and industry executives who have made Hollywood what it is today - one of the greatest entertainment destinations in the world. The new selections will bring great joy and fond memories for those millions who visit Hollywood each year!"

Other music names due to pick up a Hollywood star next year include Bruce Springsteen, Tupac and Jeff Lynne.

Jennifer Lopez meanwhile received a star on the Walk of Fame on Thursday (June 20) - the 2,500th honour that has been dished out since the project was thought up in the 1950s.
