OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

The Debutantes are performed by two talented sisters from Cardiff, Victoria and Lavinia George-Veale. Not only do they have a passion for the music from the sixties, but have always had an interest and fascination with vintage clothing from that era be it rustling through charity shops or raiding family wardrobes. In today’s world of modern fashion, both Victoria and Lavinia also recreate iconic looks from the 1960’s by choosing items from our everyday high street shops and making it their own.

The Debutantes are also providing a strong message in societies combat of ‘fast fashion’. The girls display how you can renew and recycle fashion items and style them to create different looks, whether it is the mainstream style, or a vintage replica.

Born in Cardiff into a Welsh musical family, the sisters’ home was filled with the Motown and Phil Spector sound of the 60s, from artists such as The Supremes, The Ronettes, The Crystals and Dusty Springfield.

Since then, the sisters have always loved singing, dancing and performing together. Their love of music has stayed with them into adulthood with Victoria starring in musical theatre, and Lavinia in her final year at The London School of Music and Drama. This new project brings their love of music and fashion with a 60’s nostalgic spin.
