Ed Sheeran on 5 Seconds Of Summer: 'Their overall appeal is good, they're not a boyband'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has given his opinion on newcomers 5 Seconds To Summer after covering their hit single, 'She Looks So Perfect', recently.

He performed a rendition of the song at a Capital FM session and praised the talented young Australians, describing them as having mass appeal yet not conforming to the boyband stereotype:

"I think they're really good. I think they've got great voices, I think the songs are good, I think their overall appeal is good. They're actually a guitar-playing band who appeal to the boyband generation, but aren't a boyband. They're like Blink-182 or Green Day or Sum 41."

5SOS's Calum Hood also spoke about Sheeran's cover and admitted that it was amazing to have someone his band looks up to playing one of their songs:

"That was literally crazy when we found out because we started out covering his songs and he's such a massive inspiration for our songwriting, because he's such a great songwriter. He was the first gig I ever went to, in Sydney, so it was just an amazing feeling."
