Lucy Hale on moving into the music world: 'People laughed and didn't believe in me'

Superstar Lucy Hale, who made her name playing the character of Aria on 'Pretty Little Liars', has revealed that when she turned to music and told people she was releasing a country album, the reception wasn't so welcoming.

During an interview with U.S. Cosmopolitan magazine, the beauty admitted that making the transition from actress to country singer was tough because people initially didn't believe she could do it:

"So many people didn't want to touch the project with a ten-foot pole. Literally, I had people laughing and saying, 'You're making an album? Good luck.'. But if you sit down and talk music with me for ten minutes, you know that's my passion."

Hale also recently admitted to Ryan Seacrest that she was able to choose the character she played on PLL: "I'm actually very similar to Aria. When I got the script, they were sort of like, 'Lucy, pick a character'. I was initially drawn to Aria. She's very creative and headstrong, a little bit stubborn and sassy..!"
