It has been confirmed that vocal sensation Mariah Carey will be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week. 

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced earlier today (July 27) that the 'We Belong Together' superstar will be awarded the 2,556th star on Wednesday, August 5. Guest speakers at the ceremony will include directors Lee Daniels and Brett Ratner, along with the CEO of Epic Records and Carey's long-time collaborator L.A. Reid.

Carey, meanwhile, recently opened up about her future career plans during an interview with Buzzfeed and joked that if she could choose anyone to collaborate with, she would pick herself: "I want to collaborate with me 'cause I've done so many collaborations that after a certain point unless you're really working with a certain calibre of an artist, there's no point."

"It just becomes, 'Oh, let's throw these two people together', and that's what I feel is wrong with some of the collaborations that happen today and, dare I say, I helped paved the way for some of these little collaborations that happened today."
