U2’s The Edge in daughter cancer “hell”

The wife of U2 guitarist The Edge has opened up for the first time about the “hell” the couple experienced after their young daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Morleigh Steinberg described her devastation when doctors told her that daughter Sian, who was only 9 at the time, had the serious illness back in 2006.

U2 were forced to postpone several dates of their ‘Vertigo’ tour after the guitarist heard the news and immediately took his child to Los Angeles for treatment.

Steinberg said: "You're in shock then you just go into survival mode.

"The whole thing is hell but at the same time you stay positive and you really live. You live more because you don't want to take anything for granted."

However, the couple are now relieved to say that Sian, now 13, has made a full recovery, Steinberg says: "She's through it and she's fine."
