James Arthur on his new album: "It's authentic"

James Arthur marked his return earlier today (September 9) with a brand new single called "Say You Won't Let Go" and he has now opened up about the album that will follow.

In a press release, the musician explained that the record is full of "character" and it's something he is very proud of because it's authentic and wholly representative of himself:

“I’m so excited to be back and getting my new music out there. Its been a very turbulent few years, but I am now back to feeling better than ever and am really proud of the music. I can’t wait for people to hear it. This album has loads of character in it. I had a story to tell. People will relate to it and the message is hope, to like yourself, love and respect."

He added that the album, which is called "Back From The Edge", will showcase his personal tastes where genres are concerned and he has co-produced all of the songs that feature on it, which makes it that much more unique:

“I like to explore different genres and mash them all together. I grew up on soul music with my mum but my dad would play heavy rock like Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Thin Lizzy. With this album you get a bit of everything. I'm a co-producer and I'm in the studio for eight hours picking the comps. I'm also on all the emails back and forth asking things like ‘how loud should this snare be?’ It’s real detail’."
