Robbie Williams on being too "irrelevant" for BBC Radio 1Robbie Williams has reacted to being deemed not relevant enough for BBC Radio 1's audience. The singer topped the UK singles chart on Sunday (November 4) with his comeback single 'Candy' but Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw later said that he doesn't fit the station's remit. The comment came after a newspaper report said that Williams was to be dropped from Radio 1's playlists. Speaking to the Metro, the 'Take The Crown' singer appeared to accept the news - but joked that there would be trouble if Madonna or Coldplay were played on Radio 1. He said: "It's not really about having the last laugh. Radio 1 goes through the government. The government's given them a remit to appeal to 17- to 24-year-olds, obviously I don't fit in to that and that's okay." Radio personality Neil 'Dr' Fox' meanwhile has lashed out at Nick Grimshaw for his views on Williams, tweeting today (November 6): "Brainless @grimmers @R1Breakfast claims @robbiewilliams is too old & irrelevant for today's teenagers! Some advice.. Stop being a total n*b."
