One Direction confirm tour support act details: 'Sick news! Can't wait!'

The One Direction heartthrobs' forthcoming 'Take Me Home' tour is due to begin later this month and the lads have finally shared details of who will be opening for them on the run of dates.

Member Louis Tomlinson broke the exciting news earlier today and told his fans that the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer will be their official support act, tweeting:

"@Louis_Tomlinson: Sooooo excited to announce our mates @5Secsofsummer are supporting us on tour!"

Irish singer Niall Horan added that the announcement was "so sick" and that he "can't wait now" for the shows to begin.

5 Seconds of Summer also used social netorking site Twitter to promote their spot on the tour, writing: "We're going to be supporting @onedirection on their world tour! :D we can't believe this has happened to us!! Thank you all so much <3. We'll be touring the UK, USA/Canada & Australia/NZ!!"

"We couldn't have done any of this without you guys. THANK YOU <3 we play our first show next weekend (Feb 23) in London!"
