McFly's Tom Fletcher has wished his wife a happy wedding anniversary, saying it's the first of "forever" together.

The 27-year-old singer wed Giovanna Falcone in May of last year. Fletcher took to Twitter this morning to declare his love one year on, gushing: "Happy 1 year wedding anniversary to my beautiful wife @MrsGiFletcher. One down, forever to go! X (sic)."

Fletcher also thanked Giovanna for her gift - an R2-D2 lego set.

He added: "Best wife ever!!!! Most kick ass anniversary present of all time (sic)."

The star melted the hearts of women across the country after posting a video late last year of himself singing his wedding speech.

In an interview earlier this year Fletcher said the idea came about after failing to read out aloud his speech without succumbing to embarrassment.

"I couldn't even read it out to myself without cringing. We were on tour and I had a piano in my hotel room, to help me write, so I thought, 'I wonder if I could sing it?'."
