Woman dies in hospital following Stone Roses concert in Glasgow

A 24-year-old woman has died in hospital after falling at the Stone Roses concert in Glasgow over the weekend (June 15).

Scotland's The Daily Record newspaper reports that she collapsed around 9pm, just as the band took to the stage, and her friends raised the alarm among the 50,000 strong crowd. The woman was treated at the scene, but was later taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she sadly died.

A Police Scotland spokesman explained to the press: “Just after 9pm we received a report that a 24-year-old woman had fallen while attending the Stone Roses concert."

“Emergency services attended and the woman was treated at the venue before being taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she was pronounced dead. A postmortem will be carried out.”

The BBC confirmed that "several dozen" unrelated arrests were made at the event mainly for anti-social behaviour and drugs offences.
