Dancehall King Beenie Man joins Leeds rapper August.III on a fresh remix of smash afro bashment track Paaji.
Bringing his infectious energy to the party track, the Jamaican icon blends his dancehall sound with August.III’s afro bashment vibe.
Grammy-award-winning Beenie Man has previously teamed up with the likes of Janet Jackson, TI, Nicki Minaj and Wyclef Jean, over three decades in music.
August.III said: “I listened to Beenie Man growing up, his energy and the way he lands on the beat, I feel naturally has played an influence on my sound. He liked the original track a lot and it was natural to him, the way music is. He wrote the lyrics there and then, and laid it down within a matter of hours.
“The track has always been about blending cultures: initially that was with both my Nigerian heritage and the Indian influences on my life. Now Beenie Man adds his Jamaican twist to the track bringing three different cultures all in one sound.
“How the track landed and the number of streams it generated by itself showed me it’s ready for this remix and ready for even bigger things now.”
Whilst Paaji’s stems give an African sound, high notes of sitar and flute bring an Indian element, brought to life by Motion’s Punjabi rap vocal, who also joins the pair on the remix, combined with the 808 of an afro track.
Having already clocked up more than 500k streams since its release in November 2020, the seamless blend of culture in this high-octane remix of Paaji brings a new sound for an exciting upcoming artist.
August.III has recently taken the stage at The Warehouse Project, Manchester, to a 6,000 strong crowd and supported DJ Spinall at his Afrobeats Leeds Invasion.
