Dublin 5-piece SACK have announced their hotly-anticipated return with a glorious new single ‘Wake Up People’ (released May 10th), along with details of a brand new album and upcoming live dates.

It’s been a journey that began in the mid-90s, picking up ‘single of the week’ in NME and Melody Maker on their very first track (‘What Did The Christians Ever Do For Us?’), working with Paul Tipler (Stereolab) and Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee (U2, REM) on their excellent album ‘Butterfly Effect’, before finding a rush of entranced fans that even included Morrissey, who took them out on tour across Europe, the UK and USA, and declared that their track ‘Laughter Lines’ “should be number one forever.”

There’s been missteps, frustration, life changes, but nearly 20 years later, lockdown saw the band re-emerge with a new track ‘What A Way To Live’ and the re-release of their album ‘Butterfly Effect’ in 2022, spurring renewed acclaim for the band and a flood of new fans, including Tim Burgess who held one of his popular Twitter listening parties in honour of the record. Now in 2024, there’s a new album that is set to see Sack win everyone over, all over again.

Like the very band who wrote the track, the first single (and the title track of the upcoming album) ‘Wake Up People’ is as fresh as it is nostalgic, and as enjoyable and uplifting as it is thought-provoking, urgent, and heartfelt. So yeah, Sack aren’t your usual band. If you know them already, you’ll be thrilled they’re back, and if you don’t, then this is what you’ve been missing…

‘Wake Up People’ is out now on all streaming platforms through Sack’s own imprint ‘Jetset Junta’. Sack’s new album of the same name ‘Wake Up People’ will be released in late-2024, and the band will hit the road on a series of live dates, including London’s 229 Club this November.
