Bruno Mars 'charts' choppier waters

Bruno Mars’ ‘Just The Way You Are’ is topping the charts in both the US and UK, so it remains to be seen if his first professional hiccup will have any effect.

The oops is Mars being charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a Las Vegas District Attorney’s spokesperson.

With ‘Just the Way You Are’ in its second week of being America’s favourite record, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Mars had been arrested early September 19, after police allegedly found him with 2.6 grams of cocaine after a concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Mars’ next court date is set for November 18.

His fate could range from time behind bars to probation, yet his label Elektra is standing fully behind him. “We congratulate Bruno Mars on his chart-topping success, and provide him with our full love and support,” announced a spokesperson.
