In a special one-off broadcast for the Edinburgh Festival 2019, internationally renowned director, singer/songwriter, Sarah McGuinness, throws open the doors of the exclusive London’s Soho members-club, Blacks, and invites the Edinburgh Festival inside as she presents her live show, Back To Blacks, at 9pm on Wednesday 21 August. Special guests include Thrones The Musical Parody, Lucie Pohl, Falsetto Socks and the inimitable Eddie Izzard. As the creative soul of SOHO closes its doors to make way for gentrification, Sarah demonstrates that ‘Soho Is a State of Mind’ as she brings the exciting and eclectic spirit of Soho up to Edinburgh.

A compelling hour of eclectic live music and celebrity chat streams regularly from Blacks Club in Soho, with Sarah McGuinness hosting proceedings and igniting the musical entertainment. Now in a unique ‘festival edition’, Back To Blacks makes a special appearance for one day only in Edinburgh, as Sarah presents the best of the festival in a compelling hour-long broadcast.

Indulge in headliners, emerging talent, music and comedy, whipped up into spontaneous live-entertainment that’s totally irresistible. Sarah’s musical guests, (to be revealed closer to the time). And like all good hosts, Sarah will be providing a generous serving of her own entertainment as she brings to life the tracks from her current album, ‘Unbroken Deluxe’, through delicious acoustic aperitifs.

An internationally renowned movie director, producer and screen writer for TV and the big screen, with a burgeoning solo music career, Sarah McGuinness is perfectly placed to host a live entertainment show of this kind. Her most notable works include Emmy-nominated documentary ‘Believe’ and multi award-winning ’Noma: Forgiving Apartheid’, the lyrically-told inside stories of Eddie Izzard and Noma Dumezweni; the acclaimed black actress who shot to fame with her portrayal of Hermione in the hit new Harry Potter play.

Think Jools Holland meets Graham Norton with a large dash of the Big Breakfast and you’ll get the idea.
