Mamma Doom: the deceptive forms of communication.

Zahara’s vocals have been compared to “a lineage of sensual ‘alt-torch’ singers” Nancy Sinatra, Julie London, PJ Harvey & Martina Topley-Bird, here sounding in the vein of Karen O, with Ben’s leading guitars taking you on a train journey through Slim Harpo-Johnny Kidd-Velvet Underground stops over sunbleached borderlands.

With YozMaz’s cult techno & house producer (Hi-Ryze, 62nd Cell), they create an otherworldly modern and unique sonic landscape with soft, ethereal, eerie vocals that pierce through a relentless groove.

The song comes out together with a deconstructable ghostly interactive video art piece that allows you to listen to all the musicians individually, a multisensorial experience of music as collage, to move from a unidimensional wave of perception of a song to a multidimensional journey -with Mamma Doom Strange Pill introduce for the first time a glimpse of their music/art/technology project online. More songs to be released in the following months with their corresponding interactive video art online experience, introducing a whole album made in this manner over the last few years since their first Arts Council funding support.

Hosted in Strange Pill's interactive video creation and audio visual music collaboration platform (musicjelly.com), a labour of love built by them over years.

The song was recorded on location in art deco house Joldwynds, with all performers sitting through each person’s take and then all takes superimposed to create this surreal montage. Captured by videographer Jordi Pol, Strange Pill brought all takes together to turn them into a moving painting that responds to touch, enabling anyone to isolate the layers of the collage to take you into an aural perception expansion experience of their music.

lyrics:

Oooh Mamma Doom...
This aint my body,
my body aint mine
Oooh...
...remember...
not to say the word
not to say the name
you'll just see
what you want it to be
