Taylor Swift wins legal battle

Taylor Swift has won a court battle in which she claimed counterfeit merchandise bearing her name and Grammy-winning album "Fearless" violated her trademark.

The 20-year-old country star's case against 16 individuals led to a federal judge in Nashville granting a default judgement permanently barring them from making or selling Swift merchandise. The judge also ordered that the fake items confiscated be destroyed.

The lawsuit claimed that the counterfeit goods, including T-shirts containing Swift's image, were sold during the singer's 2009 tour.

Court records indicated that the 16 accused had no attorneys listed and had not responded to the lawsuit.
