Taylor Swift makes generous birthday donation

Country-pop songstress Taylor Swift recently celebrated her 24th birthday by making a generous donation to bosses at the Nashville Symphony in her adopted home state of Tennessee.

She turned 24 on Friday, December 13 and along with landing a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song, which was for her 'One Chance' track 'Sweeter Than Fiction', the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' beauty gave $100,000 (£66,700) to the city orchestra after learning that it had been struggling financially.

A representative from the Nashville Symphony confirmed her donation in a post on social networking site Twitter, which thanked her for helping the company and wished her a Happy Birthday:

"We are profoundly grateful for @TaylorSwift13's donation. Thank you, Taylor, for supporting musicians & music in MusicCity! Happy Birthday!"

Back in October, Swift opened a $4 million education centre in Music City (pictured below), which she initially funded.
