DISNEY GOES CLASSICAL RELEASED AVAILABLE ON OCTOBER 2

Four-time Grammy®-winning American soprano Renée Fleming shares her beautiful rendition of ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ from the 1940 animated classic Pinocchio, released in a unique collaboration with Decca Records/Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company and Disney Music Group’s Walt Disney Records.

Disney Goes Classical, a brand new album released on October 2, evokes the colour, emotion and pure joy of Disney music on a whole new scale. Featuring the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a host of celebrated names, beloved Disney themes have been expertly re-orchestrated and recorded at London’s Air Studios, home to some of the finest movie soundtrack releases from the last century.

Renée says, “Disney films have given us so many fantastic songs, but, for me, ‘When you Wish Upon a Star’ is the most iconic. It’s a special luxury to record this gorgeous piece with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The melody has such a beautiful sweep, and it takes real range to sing. Cliff Edwards, who voiced that part, was a major recording artist who had sung in vaudeville, and even sang jazz and scat. I think the song has a kind of magical effect, and its hopeful, ‘dreams can come true’ message is one we can all use right now.”

The album features music from the most-recognisable Disney films from its Golden Age to the nineties Renaissance and into the modern era of CGI animation. From The Jungle Book and Pinocchio to Alan Menken’s inimitable scores from Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Hercules, 80 years of Disney magic have been reimagined in stunning cinematic sound.

Other special performers, including the renowned Japanese classical guitarist Kaori Muraji, further transport the listener to another world. Disney Goes Classical will strike a chord with families all over the world, as it brings the magic of the films from the screens to your headphones like never before.
