About me

The North East of Scotland is an unlikely place to nurture the next generation of Hip Hop stars, nevertheless Aberdeen born twin brothers Mark & Darren Scott, aka, SHY & DRS have emerged to firmly establish themselves on everyone's rap map. From humble beginnings recording beats on their bedroom PC to freestyle rapping on the underground scene, the lyrically dynamic duo first attained recognition with a remix of Akon’s ‘Get Buck In Here’, the effort being endorsed by Akon himself.

Having amassed in excess of 700,000 hits since launching their YouTube Channel SHY & DRS TV earlier this year along with 1 million+ My Space views it wasn’t long before the hip-pop-rock duo garnered the attention of labels everywhere. The first to the post was Guardian Angels Records, an imprint of Universal Music Group founded by Scotland's very own platinum record selling artist Sandi Thom, whom the band will release their debut album ‘Before Too Long’ through in September (24/09/12). Details on their first single release will follow soon.

The brothers cite artists such as D-12, The Beastie Boys, Tinie Tempah and Professor Green as major influences, whilst also embracing their heritage and musical roots by sampling Marillion on the record, as well as collaborating with Scottish hard rock Legends Nazareth.

To wet your appetite ahead of the album release, SHY & DRS are giving away the awesome album track ‘Dirty Girl’, a blazing hip-hop dance anthem that’s raising the roof across UK clublands. The track is available for free download at www.shyanddrs.com. The website also features videos for ‘Dirty Girl’ as well as ‘Relapse’ which features internet sensation Keenan Cahill.

British Hip Hop has never been stronger and with Hip Hop heavyweights Kuniva & Bizarre from Eminem's crew D-12 on the record as well as collaborations with Young Nate & Luke Bingham, the boys are poised to set the British rap scene on fire. As Clyde FM’s Jim Gellatly states, Shy & DRS “have the potential to be massive and might just take Scottish Hip Hop to a whole new level.”
