5 Seconds of Summer say Dublin dates are the start of an "insane year"

5 Seconds of Summer star Ashton Irwin believes this weekend was the start of an "insane" year ahead for the band.

The Australians supported One Direction at Dublin's Croke Park over three nights from May 23 as the 'Little Things' lads opened their European stadium tour.

5 Seconds of Summer will provide support on all the dates before doing it all over again in North America later in the year.

Speaking on Twitter, drummer Ashton Irwin said that he thinks the Dublin dates are the start of a crazy 2014 for the band.

He said: "Can't believe we just supported the lads at Croke park three times, this is the beginning of an insane year, so grateful!"

Next up on the Where We Are stadium tour meanwhile is a show at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on May 28.
