Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds Of Summer are enjoying incredible success all over the world at the moment and member Luke Hemmings has revealed that the band first began when a school friend, the group's guitarist Michael Clifford, suggested they get together and play music. 

During a new interview with Billboard magazine, which they also shot a cover photo for, Hemmings explained that Clifford had seen his cover videos that he had been uploading to YouTube and approached him at school to ask about forming a band:

"He came up to me at school and said, 'Do you want to do one together and, like, maybe make a band or something?'"

Ashton Irwin also told the magazine that all they want to achieve with 5SOS is to inspire kids to follow their musical passions and he added: "If a kid picks up drumsticks because of our band, job done," says Irwin. "Just to have guitars on the radio again is nice."
