5 Seconds of Summer say performing 'wasn't the same' without Michael Clifford

5 Seconds of Summer have admitted that hitting the stage without Michael Clifford just "wasn't the same".

The pop-punkers performed at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball on Sunday (December 7) at London's O2 Arena as a three-piece.

This was because Australian Clifford had lost his passport and wasn't able to travel from the US.

The guitarist issued a video message to apologise to fans for his stupidity.

Taking to Twitter after the show, singer and guitarist Luke Hemmings said:

"Wasn't the same without Michael but we did our best, thanks jingle bell ball :-).

"We didn't actually have michaels passport, that was a joke."
