5 Seconds of Summer star Michael Clifford has topped a list of the most retweeted posts by an Australian on Twitter last year.

The social networking website has been revealing its end of year data and Clifford has come out top in one of its rundowns.

Clifford has the most shared post on Twitter from an Australian of 2015 with at least 162k retweets.

The message was sent on June 13 and it featured a photo of the guitarist wearing bandages on his face after getting burnt by pyro in London.

He wrote: "What the f*cks up. sorry I couldnt finish the encore, but at least I look like two face. thanks for worrying every1 x."

Cody Simpson meanwhile was named the most followed Australian on Twitter in 2015 with around 7.59 million fans.

5 Seconds of Summer star Luke Hemmings is second on the list.
