Kimberley Walsh is Strictly Come Dancing runner-up

Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh has placed runner-up in series 10 of TV show 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The beauty lost out to Olympic gymnast Louis Smith in tonight's grand final - with presenter Denise Van Outen also coming in behind the sports star and actress Dani Harmer placing fourth.

Walsh and professional partner Pasha Kovalev took to the floor to perform ballroom dance the Viennese Waltz and were awarded 39 points at the beginning of the show. They also performed a spectacular Showdance to Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' which earned them another impressive 39 points.

After Harmer was eliminated from the competition, all three remaining acts took to the floor to perform one final time.

Walsh chose to perform the Tango - her favourite dance to date - to rapturous applause and a perfect score of 40 from the judges.

Louis - who is good friends with JLS star Aston Merrygold - and his professional dance partner Flavia Cacace lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy at the end of the show tonight (December 22).

Walsh's Girls Aloud bandmates have been supportive of her impressive turn on the show, with friend Cheryl Cole taking to Twitter ahead of the tonight's live final: ".. I'm so EXCITED !! Let's goooo Kimba !! Let's reaallllllyyyy GO !!! #BF4life #getembeeaatttchhhh .. (sic)"
