Jake Bugg: 'I hate festivals so much'

British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg performed at Glastonbury Festival over the weekend, but revealed that he can't stand festivals because they're so muddy and messy.

Speaking before he took the stage at Worthy Farm, the star admitted that while he enjoys the atmosphere of outdoor music events, they're always a bit of a drag and he could 'do without' them:

"I hate festivals so much, but obviously to be this high up on the line-up and to be playing here tonight, is a privilege."

"But the actual experience of festivals I could really do without."

"I remember going out onto the Pyramid Stage last year and seeing so many blurred faces. It was much bigger than I thought it was going to be, I couldn't really believe it to be honest. It was a bit too early for me to care - it was 3pm, and that's a bit too early for a show for me."

Earlier this year, Bugg hit out at vocal talent shows such as 'American Idol' and admitted that they crush dreams and can have a really negative impact on contestants: "It was quite sad. We went on just before they said to the contestant 'Yeah you're not through' and she was really heartbroken. It's cruel. It's like, 'Thanks for coming on the show but you'll never get a record contract'. It's the dream smasher, that's what it is, the dream smasher."
