Perrie Edwards has cooled things down after her bandmate Jesy Nelson apparently said in an interview that "stupid little Zayn Malik fans" are jealous of Edwards.

The singer allegedly told OK! magazine that people who were giving Edwards hate over her pale skin complexion were just jealous fans of her fiancé Malik.

However, Edwards has now clarified the comments in an interview with Sugarscape, saying that the quote was misinterpreted.

She said: "She did not mean every single Zayn fan is stupid and little. I think there was a massive misunderstanding. It was a phone interview, and things can be misinterpreted over the phone, it can become a mountain made out of a molehill.

"Basically, us four girls, we're absolute best friends and we always have each other's backs. If any of us feel like one of us is getting digged at or getting nasty comments, we will always stick up for each other. Jesy did not mean every single Zayn Malik fan is stupid and little. She just meant that people hating who are Zayn fans are being stupid. That's what she meant, she did not mean every single Zayn fan - that would be daft! It was basically a massive misunderstanding."
