Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock reflects on Liberia charity visit

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has opened up on her recent visit to Liberia for Sport Relief.

The singer, alongside her three bandmates, made the trip to the African country to see first hand the reasons why bodies like Sport Relief need to raise money for the poor.

Speaking in an exclusive message on Digital Spy, Pinnock said that she was taken aback by the levels of poverty in the country.

She wrote: "We met a girl called Lucky in the city's West Point slum who was in that kind of desperate situation. Her father died of cholera through drinking contaminated water - water Lucky is still forced to use herself. She eats once a day and lives without any electricity, and is forced to miss school to earn what little money she can.

"I'm a daddy's girl for sure myself and I don't know what I'd do without my dad. He helped me so much, he took me to auditions and supported me in everything. This poor girl misses her Dad but at least she is getting help from a project supported by Sport Relief cash, to help get her the education she desperately wants and needs.

"I wish everyone could go to Liberia and see how children are suffering there - there'd be no arguments about helping then, no debate."

Little Mix meanwhile have recorded this year's Sport Relief single - a cover of the classic 80s track 'Word Up'.
