Louis Tomlinson wants to step up charity work during band break

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is ready to increase his charity efforts next year.

The band are set to take a prolonged break from March 2016 to focus on solo endeavours.

One area of work Tomlinson is hoping to focus more time on is charity.

The singer is currently a patron of the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, while he has also supported Believe In Magic.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "Being my age and being able to be in a position where I can help people out and give opportunities to other people is the most exciting thing to me.

"I mean, don't get me wrong, I do aim to have a couple months' downtime to see the family, go home, do all that stuff, but yeah, I do hope to be busy, as well."

One Direction will release their fifth album 'Made in the A.M.' on November 13.

However, the band won't tour the record as a result of their break.
