One Direction singer Liam Payne has recalled a particularly embarrassing incident where he tried to kiss Victoria Beckham on the cheeks and was taken aback by her reaction.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, the 'Live While We're Young' star explained that he bumped into the Spice Girl at the London 2012 Olympic Closing Cermony and tried to be dashing by "giving her a kiss on both cheeks", but his affections weren't returned:

"I met Victoria Beckham and tried to play it cool by giving her a kiss on both cheeks. She just recoiled a bit and looked shocked after the first kiss. I don’t think she really wanted that kind of greeting."

He added that his bandmates found the situation to be hilarious and member Louis Tomlinson couldn't stop laughing: "Louis Tomlinson from our band was stood next to me p***ing himself.”

During the same interview, Payne also confirmed that he has split from girlfriend Danielle Peazer and despite press rumours isn't dating Leona Lewis although he admitted that he went for a drink with her.
