One Direction's Zayn Malik misses pre-fame lifestyle

'Little Things' singer Zayn Malik has admitted that he often pines for his old lifestyle because as a teenager he still has the urge to be silly and mess around, but can't so much now that he's constantly in the public eye.

The Sun newspaper reports that the One Direction heartthrob explained how he misses being able to make decisions and have fun without worrying if he will be photographed by the paparazzi or ambushed by fans:

"The fact that you could literally go anywhere, say anything and no one will judge you for it. Now, if I was seen going to do something stupid like go to a kids’ playhouse or something to be childish, people would look at me strangely.”

Meanwhile, the lads picked up 3 awards at last night's MTV EMAs for Best UK and Ireland Act, Best New Act and Best Fans, and they took to their individual Twitter pages to thank their fans for helping them win.

Member Liam Payne wrote: "Thank you to everyone who voted for us at the EMAs! You are the best fans everrrr! Thank you for everything you guys do . Love you allllll."
