Pharrell Williams on creative block: 'The human mind is literally an antenna'

Hitmaker Pharrell Williams has opened up about the human mind's handling of creative block.

In a new interview with Variety magazine, the superstar explained that when he has writer's block he takes a break and tries to come at the piece of work with a different viewpoint or with clear eyes:

"The human mind is literally an antenna, it picks up waves and transmissions from the ultimate source, from the ether. Being blocked just means that you're aiming for the same thing as before, but your mind is saying to you, 'there's no more here. I know you think we can dig deeper with this particular topic or subject, but we're not going to.' So you need to go out and hit the reset button, and come back and look at it differently."

The 'Blurred Lines' sensation went onto explain that once that wall has been hit, the most effective resolve is to go away and then view it in a different light and from a different perspective: "Maybe the vantage point with which you were looking at the song or the track was just so acute that it didn't allow you to see inside the room."
