Bruno Mars has quipped that he will wear a beekeeper suit to keep warm at this year's Super Bowl.

The singer is due to play the coveted half-time show at New Jersey on February 2 but the weather has been causing concern.

It is reportedly the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a cold environment.

Billboard asked Mars about how he will cope with the cold weather, with the singer joking: "Everyone's putting the fear of God in me like there's going to be a blizzard. I'm going to wear a beekeeper suit, I don't know. I'm not going to know until I get there...I'm not trying to hype myself up too much. I know it's going to be cold and I just got to face it."

Mars will follow in the footsteps of Beyoncé, who performed at the grand event in 2013.
