Kanye West thinks people 'don't understand his interracial relationship' with Kim Kardashian

Kanye West believes some people "don't understand" his relationship with Kim Kardashian.

The rapper married the reality TV star earlier this year and they had their first child, North West, in 2013.

However, the outspoken 'Yeezus' man said at the Cannes Lions festival that he reckons his romance with Kardashian is often misunderstood due to their race.

He said: "I don't write self-help books or anything like that...You have to be able to take the lashes when people don't understand.

"Two years of people not understanding an interracial relationship, two years of people not understanding the idea of the art world meets the pop world, you have to take the lash and be able to swim in the backlash."

West meanwhile recently revealed that his child North may have been received whilst the couple holidayed in Florence, Italy.

He said: “I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces. It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world — for me the most beautiful in Europe.”
