Neon Trees frontman on Adam Lambert: 'I enjoy him'

Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn has given a shout out to vocal powerhouse and openly gay music star Adam Lambert after complaining that the industry didn’t have an out musician to sit alongside the success of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and failing to mention him.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Glenn explained that he was annoyed at the fact that straight musicians are being seen as the mouthpiece for the LGBT community and didn't acknowledge that Lambert is an openly gay hitmaker:

"I've gotten tired of kind-of gay or straight people being pop culture's gay [spokespeople] – like Macklemore. It makes me wonder, 'Are we ready for an actual gay pop star and not just the safe straight guy saying it's OK?' I appreciate the fact that Michael Stipe was able to just be who he was, and it rarely overshadowed the music."

Now, in an interview with Out magazine, Glenn explained that he didn't want the 'Trespassing' superstar to think he had forgotten him so wanted to mention his name in light of his previous comments: "I didn't want him to think I was leaving him out. I'll use Out.com to say that I enjoy him.”

Lambert took to his official Twitter page earlier this evening (April 8) and tweeted: "@tylerinacoma thanks for the shoutout on the http://out.com article ;)"
