Paolo Nutini lands No.1 album and claims fastest-selling record of 2014 title

Crooner Paolo Nutini has scored a No.1 with his brand new album, 'Caustic Love', and the offering has also now been crowned the fastest-selling album of 2014 so far.

The singer shifted over 109,000 copies in the UK over the last seven days, beating the previous record holder Sam Bailey to the title. This is also Nutini's second chart-topping album as his 2009 release, 'Sunny Side Up', peaked at No.1.

The Vamps' debut record, entitled 'Meet The Vamps', has shot straight in at No.2 this evening on the UK Top 40 albums chart (April 20), Paloma Faith's 'A Perfect Contradiction' is at No.3, and John Legend's 'Love In The Future' is now at No.4.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, Kaiser Chiefs are at 5 with 'Education, Education, Education And War', former X Factor runner-up Rhydian is at No.19 with 'One Day Like This', and Afghan Whigs’ 'Do To The Beast' has debuted at No.40.
