Hozier has highest new entry in today's UK midweek albums chart

'Take Me To Church' musician Hozier, real name Andrew Hozier-Byrne, has entered the UK Top 40 albums chart at No.4 today (October 8) with his self-titled debut record.

The Irish sensation has been gaining a lot of attention recently and his debut album has now made an impressive appearance on the chart, giving him this week's highest new entry. George Ezra, meanwhile, maintains his lead at No.1 with 'Wanted On Voyage'.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Ed Sheeran's 'X' has climbed a place to sit at No.2, Sam Smith's 'The Lonely Hour' is currently at No.3, and Barbra Streisand’s duets album, which is entitled 'Partners', is at 5.

There are 13 new entries on the midweek update this afternoon and Lady Antebellum are on course to land their fourth UK Top 10 album this Sunday with '747', which is at No.10. Rockers Lower Than Atlantis' self-titled effort has placed at No.14, Jamie Cullum’s seventh album Interlude is at 19, and Stevie Nicks' '24 Karat: Songs From The Vault' is at No.16.
