Sam Smith and Lorde nominated for BBC Song Of The Year prize

Sam Smith and Lorde are among the nominees for the Song Of The Year gong at this year's BBC Music Awards.

The broadcaster are hosting their inaugural music awards at London's Earls Court tonight (December 11).

The nominees have been announced for the Song Of The Year prize and Sam Smith's 'Money On My Mind' is a frontrunner.

He is joined by Lorde's 'Royals', Pharrell's 'Happy', Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be' and Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars'.

Also nominated are Ed Sheeran's 'Sing', 'Ghost' by Ella Henderson, George Ezra's 'Budapest', Kiesza's 'Hideaway' and Nico and Vinz's 'Am I Wrong'.

Voting for the award will run until the ceremony in the evening.
