X Factor winner Ben Haenow has inked a deal with Syco.

The singer, who won the competition in December, will start work on his debut album later this month.

Label boss Simon Cowell said: "Ben is a great talent and a great guy.

"I'm thrilled he is now officially part of the Syco family and can't wait to get working with him on his first album."

The news was confirmed on Haenow's birthday (January 6).

He tweeted: "I have woken up 30 years old, genuinely hurt my back...I'm now officially old! Great start!! Thank you all for your lovely messages!"

The Brit meanwhile achieved the UK Christmas No.1 with his winner's single 'Something I Need'.
