Lucy Hale reveals why she chose to play Aria on 'Pretty Little Liars'

'Pretty Little Liars' actress Lucy Hale has revealed that she got to choose the character she plays on the popular show and was immediately drawn to Aria because she felt an affinity with the role and her personality.

The beauty dropped by Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC) and confessed that as soon as she read the script, she knew who she wanted to play:

"I'm actually very similar to Aria. When I got the script, they were sort of like, 'Lucy, pick a character'. I was initially drawn to Aria. She's very creative and headstrong, a little bit stubborn and sassy..!"

When asked to talk about her influences, the songstress admitted that she grew up listening to the typical teen artists, but also fell in love with the country genre so that had a huge impact on her career path now:

"Everyone has a hobby growing up and mine just happened to be music. I fell in love with people like Shania Twain and I loved Britney Spears growing up, and the Spice Girls. I really also developed a strong love of country music."
