Pink Floyd deny Ed Sheeran Olympics closing ceremony collaboration

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently confirmed that he will rock the Olympics closing ceremony later this month with Pink Floyd, but now the band have denied any involvement in the show.

The 'Comfortably Numb' icons issued a statement this afternoon (August 2) that explains they will not be at the event on August 12 to perform 'Wish You Were Here' with the chart-topping singer-songwriter:

"In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games."

Sheeran was quoted as saying: "I'm playing the closing ceremony – which I think is kinda cool right?"

"A lot of people think that I'm doing a song with The Who but I'm not – I'm doing a song with Pink Floyd. I'm doing 'Wish You Were Here'."
