Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne's wife insists he'll "be in trouble" if he ever wears more fake tan than her.

The hunk is taking part in 'Strictly Come Dancing' alongside professional dance partner Karen Hauer, and says the relentless rehearsals are having a wondrous effect on his body.

Byrne says his wife  of nine years Georgina Aher approves of his new physique, but isn't so keen on his beauty routine.

He laughed to new! magazine: "It does give you pains and strains in places you’ve never had them before! Yeah, my bum’s tightened up. Everywhere’s tightening. If you weren’t in great shape before, you certainly would be after putting the hours in for what you’ve got to do to get things right for Saturday night.

He added: "[My wife] is [a fan] yeah! But she’s been giving me a bit of stick, saying, 'If you come home wearing more fake tan than me, or with more sequins than I have, then we’re going to be in trouble!' She’s loving it. She’s a big fan of the show, and so’s my sister and my mam."

Byrne also revealed how his wife feels him getting "up close and personal" with his dance partner on the show.

He added: "She's fine. You wouldn't be doing it if everything wasn't hunky-dory! Anyway, you say "up close and personal" but on Strictly it's all very professional, all very relaxed. Yeah, you spend a lot of time with that person, but it's all for a good cause."
