A woman who shares a similar name with an Australian waitress who claims to have slept with One Direction's Zayn Malik has spoken out against the internet hate she has received.

As previously reported, Aussie Courtney Webb recently claimed that she bedded Malik in London - and even had photos of the singer apparently sleeping to prove it.

It provoked an angered response from One Direction fans who believed she was trying to break up Malik and girlfriend Perrie Edwards, who sings in Little Mix.

Speaking to The Sun, British sales executive Courtney Webster - whose Twitter handle is similar to Webb's - said that she has been inadvertently receiving online hate and death threats over the incident. She said:

"I was in utter shock. They said they were going to kill me and I was a slut for sleeping with Zayn. I've never even met him."

She added: "I might tweet Zayn and ask him to say sorry for dropping me in it."
